REPORT OF THE SERVICE DIRECTOR – CUSTOMERS

To agree a Business Rates Retail Discount Scheme for North Hertfordshire following the Budget announcement on 29 October 2018

RESOLVED:

      i.        That the high level implications of the proposed scheme be noted.

     ii.        That the Cabinet delegates the final detail of the scheme to the Service Director - Customers in consultation with the Executive Member for Finance and IT.

REASONS FOR DECISION:

      i.        To comply with the proposals announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Budget on 29 October 2018.

     ii.        To provide additional financial assistance to retail businesses in line with the Budget announcement.

    iii.        To ensure that the scheme will be finalised in time for implementation from 1 April 2019.
