The Finance, Audit
and Risk Committee (known as FAR) plays a vital role in overseeing
the governance of the Council. The Scope of the Committee is wide
and varied, but the main focus is on making sure the Council has
the processes in place to enable it to be run effectively.
In its own right,
it carries out the statutory role of approving the Council’s
accounts and Annual Governance Statement. It also keeps track of
all the work that is being carried out by Internal Audit, the
Anti-Fraud service and the Council’s External Auditors- all
with a focus on making sure things are done in the right way.
It also supports
Cabinet in reviewing finance reports and ensuring we have processes
in place to manage risk.
